Microchip Technology HCS360-I/P

When a button is pressed, the HCS360 combines a 32-bit encrypted hopping portion with 35 fixed and status bits in a 67-bit transmitted word. An EEPROM stores the cryptographic key, serial number, synchronization counters, seed, and configuration. The DATA output interfaces to external transmission circuitry; an RF transmitter and receiver are not integrated.

LCDChip registers 8-DIP (0.300", 7.62mm). Microchip's product-identification table maps /P to an eight-lead, 300-mil plastic DIP and the -I suffix to -40°C through +85°C. Do not substitute the surface-mount /SN footprint without a board redesign.

Layout checks

• Verify row spacing and drill dimensions from the controlled drawing.
• Use the top-view pin-one mark when orienting the package.
• Keep button, DATA, and LED traces consistent with the reference circuit.

Microchip's eight-pin top view assigns S0 to pin 1, S1 to pin 2, S2/programming clock to pin 3, S3 to pin 4, VSS to pin 5, DATA/programming I/O to pin 6, LED cathode connection to pin 7, and VDD to pin 8. Confirm programming and transmitter circuitry against the manufacturer's diagrams.

Apply the detailed manufacturer DC and timing limits at the actual supply, output load, and temperature.

Other code-hopping encoders can differ in word format, modulation, provisioning, receiver learning, package, and grade. HCS360 is not a drop-in replacement solely because its eight-pin outline resembles another HCS device. No unverified internal alternative link is provided.
